Simple Advice For Everyday Humans

Perspective

Perspective is such a fickle thing. Some people see glasses half-empty, some see them half full, and some refuse to see them at all because they haven’t done the dishes in weeks. I have to admit I’ve fallen into that last category more than once. Often times the optimist type people get dragged down by the pessimists in their lives. The half-empty people just as quickly get super annoyed by the optimist, always believing the world consists of rainbows and butterflies.

So, where do we find any sense of balance?

First, realize that you control your own glass no matter what side of the fence you stand on. If it’s not quite full enough, take the liberty of pouring a little more. If it’s overflowing, drink a little off the top, so you aren’t continually spilling and making a mess. Also, realize you control what’s in your own damn glass. Need water to refresh and cleanse… fill it up. Need milk to restore yourself from a weary day… pour away. Need that 80 proof whiskey to wrap up a day and restart tomorrow… you control what’s in your own damn glass.

Half-full or half-empty isn’t really the point. Each of us has our own perspective that can be respected and appreciated. Just keep in mind that you control your own glass.
